I found this lifesize version of the classic childrens game “mouse trap.” This is straight crazy. Anyone want to try and build one of these this summer?
We started our summer CollegeLife last night asking, ” What was your favorite childhood game?” It’s amazing how many different games shaped our childhoods. We love games. Everyone loves games. Part of the reason we love games is because they give us a chance to escape from reality. For an hour or so we can become a real estate tycoon, a private investigator, a hungry hippo or a kid playing on shoots and ladders.
We are good at games, especially ones that we play frequently. So my question for myself is, “Sometimes am I just playing a huge game of Christianity?”
Do I know the rules, know the lingo, know what to say when, when to sit, when to stand, eyes closed, hands up, amen, which podcast is legit, etc… Am I am playing the game or am I really living Christianity?
The thing I have really thought about is the poker analogy.
The game of poker completely changes when you play with real money. You don’t make ridiculous bets, you think about your next move, you are IN the game. But if you are just playing with clay chips, they don’t mean anything to you, it doesn’t cost you anything.
So the question I am struggling with at the beginning of the summer is this… Am I really in this relationship with Jesus Christ we call Christianity or am I just playing the game? Is this affecting me? Where am I holding back? What’s stopping me from really pursuing Christ this summer?
Just trying to stop playing the game….
