Tim Basch led us in a great discussion of our view of God last night at CollegeLife. We all have expectations and desires in our life and all too often we have expectations and desires of God as well. Too often our desires affect the way we see God and shapes our view of God.

The challenge last night was to examine who we believe God truly is and then put that against scripture and see if it is really a biblical view of God.
So will you really take some time and examine who is God to you right now? I am much to quick to answer the question and say, of course my view of God is biblical… But is it really? Who is God to me really?
A.W. Tozer says it is the most important thing about you, what you think about God. Examine your view of God. No view of God is perfect, all views of God can be clarified by scripture, all views of God can be expanded.
Don’t be complacent in who God is to you. Search for a bigger, more complete view of who Christ is in your life. You can start by reading Colossians. A great book about who Christ is and who He is IN us.

Anne here. Just a few reminders about summer stuff:

I found this lifesize version of the classic childrens game “mouse trap.” This is straight crazy. Anyone want to try and build one of these this summer?
We started our summer CollegeLife last night asking, ” What was your favorite childhood game?” It’s amazing how many different games shaped our childhoods. We love games. Everyone loves games. Part of the reason we love games is because they give us a chance to escape from reality. For an hour or so we can become a real estate tycoon, a private investigator, a hungry hippo or a kid playing on shoots and ladders.
We are good at games, especially ones that we play frequently. So my question for myself is, “Sometimes am I just playing a huge game of Christianity?”
Do I know the rules, know the lingo, know what to say when, when to sit, when to stand, eyes closed, hands up, amen, which podcast is legit, etc… Am I am playing the game or am I really living Christianity?
The thing I have really thought about is the poker analogy.
The game of poker completely changes when you play with real money. You don’t make ridiculous bets, you think about your next move, you are IN the game. But if you are just playing with clay chips, they don’t mean anything to you, it doesn’t cost you anything.
So the question I am struggling with at the beginning of the summer is this… Am I really in this relationship with Jesus Christ we call Christianity or am I just playing the game? Is this affecting me? Where am I holding back? What’s stopping me from really pursuing Christ this summer?
Just trying to stop playing the game….

Summer is here! Congratulations to all the folks who graduated.
Tomorrow Night our summer schedule begins. We will meet at Greenbrier Ridge at 7pm for a cookout and first night of our summer programming.
Over the summer we are going to be discussing “Where God is leading me….”
I really hope you can make it. For any people in town for the summer this is a great time to join us, or if you are in Knoxville all year, this is a terrific time to get to know some college students over the summer.
Directions to Greenbrier’s Clubhouse can be found above under the “Directions” tab.
See you tomorrow.
I originally saw this video on another blog and it got me thinking about patience. Many of us are in a season of waiting: waiting to find out on an internship, a job, a start date, a vacation, a date, a test score, a relationship, resolution, direction, …
We are all forced to wait at times.
I think about whoever set up these dominoes and the extreme patience and time it took to set this up. Only in the patience was there a reward.
The same is true for you and your circumstance…God is working, sometimes we just have to be patient.
Includes food!
The next couple of days we have a couple of great opportunities for you to wind down after a long semester and kicking some tail on finals.

1st- TONIGHT at 7pm- Calhouns! I’ll say it again- I don’t know how you can pass up a $4 burger! Please let Ashley Bentz know if you are planning on being there. A couple of ways to do that- facebook her, twitter.com/aebentz , make a comment on here, or call her (if you know her number, I’m not going to post it online!)
Then afterwards folks are going to get together and watch a movie at Country Oak Apartments. 8:30 pm at apartment: 2814 Scarlett Oak Ct. We’re watching Along Came a Spider! You can come to this even if you can’t make Calhouns. Please try and park in visitor parking, so that you will not get towed!
TOMORROW- There is a free Sister Hazel concert at Thompson Boiling Arena. Some of the gang is meeting at McCalisters at 5pm to eat and then walk over together… Be there!
Finish strong and we will see you soon.
